We’re excited to share that Dr. Matt Girgis is now performing balloon sinuplasty procedures in our Hinsdale office for appropriate patients with chronic sinus symptoms. This minimally invasive treatment is designed to gently open blocked sinus passages, helping improve drainage and relieve symptoms like congestion, sinus pressure and recurring sinus infections.
Why Balloon Sinuplasty Is Unique
Like traditional surgery, Balloon Sinuplasty widens the openings of the sinus passages to improve breathing. Unlike other surgeries, Balloon Sinuplasty widens the passages without cutting bone or tissue.
Because of this, it causes less pain, has an average recovery time of just a day and a half and has a lower risk of complications or side effects. Additionally, it doesn’t leave visible scarring or bruising.
The procedure can be performed in our office, often in under 30 minutes. Dr. Girgis will give you a local anesthetic and an oral sedative to ensure that you are comfortable. He will use an endoscope to guide the balloon catheter into your sinuses. The balloon is then inflated to expand your sinus opening.
